  1.  README.1ST:  for THE PRESIDENTS(c) v1.9  - SHAREWARE -
  2.  
  3.     This program is for people interested in the history of the United
  4.  States of America.  It provides short biographies of all the Presidents
  5.  and presents tests and quizzes in various ways so that the user may
  6.  review in a non-threatening atmosphere.
  7.  
  8.  INSTALLATION
  9.  
  10.      These programs cannot fit on one 360k disk.  They are compressed with
  11.  LHARC by Yoshi.  PRES_C.EXE contains QUIZPRES.EXE, PRES.DOC and all the tests.
  12.  It also contains the biographies of the last seven Presidents (PR35_39.COM &
  13.  PR40_41.COM) which do not fit on the second disk.
  14.  
  15.      PRES_B.EXE contains all but the last seven Presidential biographies,
  16.  READPRES.BAT file, REPLY.COM and LISTPRES as a menu for listing, selecting
  17.  and reading the biographies.

  19.      The P_INSTAL.BAT program will unpack and install the programs on two
  20.  formatted 360k disks, on one 720+ disk, or create \PRES on a hard disk.  Be
  21.  sure to have formatted disks available as the total space required is 700k.

  23.      If you expect to use two 360K disks or one 720k+ disk label one Pres-A
  24.  and the other Pres-B if necessary.  Place Pres-A in drive B:.
  25.      Place the distribution disk in drive A:   When ready type ...

  27.           P_INSTAL A: B:

  29.  and follow directions as given for switching disks.
  30.  
  31.      It would be wise to now make a back-up of those disks.  If you wish
  32.  to have a bootable disk, format the Pres-A disk with the /S option and copy
  33.  all of the Pres-A files to the bootable disk but not the PRES.DOC file.  This
  34.  should give you sufficient room for the necessary files.  You do not need the
  35.  DOC file to run the program.

  37.      If you have disks of greater density you may place all the files in one
  38.  directory.  Place the distribution disk in drive A:     When ready type ...

  40.          P_INSTAL A: B:  (or A: C: or A: D: etc)
  41.  
  42.  ** READ THE DIRECTIONS (in the .DOC) FILE ON THE OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM. **

  44.      The ANSI.SYS (or NANSI.SYS) MUST be loaded for the .BAT files to work
  45.  properly.  Place DEVICE=ANSI.SYS in your CONFIG.SYS file.
